Concept Videos Help Promote Brands.

Love Has No Labels is a Video with a Solid Concept That Has Gone Viral This Week. Here’s Why:

concept

A few weeks ago we shared a viral video produced by a nonprofit organization that had a strong story at it’s core. Stories are often what make videos great, because they tell audiences why they should care. Some videos though have less of a structured storyline and are more concept driven.

Concept videos are unique in their own right. Concept art is a form of illustration used to convey an idea. It references the fact that the artist works with the larger picture of the piece of art instead of filling in the finer details. When it comes to video production, this means that the focus and main attracting element of the film is about some larger concept.

In the case of the viral video Love Has No Labels which has garnered over 40 million views on YouTube alone, and almost 2 million social shares, their concept is simple yet effective. In order to express the message that love is not bound by race, religion or sexual orientation, they wanted to show the world that we are all literally the same on the inside.

A beautiful expression of love and acceptance, this video is getting attention because the concept behind it is so relatable. Developed by the Ad Council, which is a private non-profit organization, the video showcases a variety of couples with different situations dancing, kissing and hugging behind an X-ray machine. Once they reveal themselves to the audience they hold up signs expressing the main message behind the video.

On their website, the Ad Council expresses how many Americans continue to report feeling discriminated against in their daily lives. Here is what they have to say about discrimination and the campaign:

The reason might be that we’re actually discriminating unintentionally–some call this implicit bias. Implicit bias influences how we treat people and how we interact with each other. More broadly, it can perpetuate disparities by impacting someone’s ability to find a job, secure a loan, rent an apartment or get a fair trial. To end bias, we need to become aware of it. And then we need to do everything within our power to stop it in ourselves, others, and institutions.

The Diversity & Inclusion campaign encourages everyone to reconsider the biases that we don’t even know we have.

A strong message delivered through a very targeted concept. This video has not only made millions of individuals think about the issues, but it has also raised the profile of the Ad Council. Not once in that video except for the logo at the end, was the Ad Council and the work it is doing mentioned. That is because it doesn’t need to be. The fact is, when you build a strong story, or develop a solid concept, half the battle is won because viewers are drawn in. Once you have their attention then you need to deliver a call to action, such as: “rethink bias at lovehasnolabels.com”.

That is the way you help promote your brand.
