Does Your Company Need Billboard Ad Video Marketing?

Static billboard marketing made waves when they first arrived. But since then, our culture has shifted the way we consume content, forcing marketers to follow suit.

What better way to do it than on the big screen with billboard video advertising?

Times Square, arguably one of the most popular sites in the Big Apple, sees a whopping 3-400 000 people each day.

That’s a lot of people.

Regardless of age, race/ethnicity, gender or economic background, that’s also a huge potential market.

Filled with bright lights, enticing street performers and a multitude of shops to choose from, it can be difficult to really take in all of what’s around you. One thing that stands out, however, are the massive billboard video advertisements surrounding the central square.

It isn’t surprising that our very own Dundas Square followed suit, as well.

Billboard video advertisements add that extra level of intrigue. In high-density areas like Times or Dundas Square, a video (and a good one at that) grabs people’s attention. At the very least, a company’s video advertisement will be visible to many. And if your company’s ad is actually good, even better – that could translate to increased sales.

They also stimulate the senses. One notion is that highly populated areas such as these are high stimulant areas. With so many different sounds, smells, and new things to touch and taste, our senses are at an all-time high. If we factor in bright lights and high-action video, it’s almost sensory overload.

An important thing to consider is location. When shooting for a billboard video ad, where will it be? When it boils down to it, you want people to engage with your brand.  British Airways recognized the importance of location and incorporated a brilliant billboard ad:

Highly populated areas mean higher competition, which also means a higher production value which means a higher budget. Are you prepared to create high-quality content that can stand against the competition and make waves?

Here at Key West Video, we create top-quality video for all mediums. With an emphasis on creating compelling corporate content, we strive to make our clients happy with stunning video quality. Visit our website for a quote today!

When It Comes To Comic Book Art and Storyboarding

Ever wonder what makes comic books so great? Aside from compelling storylines, great graphics and action words like POW! and THUD!, we get an awesome look at each move the character makes.

Why not translate this to video?

We’ve heard many people talk about using comic book artists to storyboard films. While this might seem like a great idea, it does leave a little room for misconception. It’s important to recognize some of the fundamental differences between actual comic books and storyboards.

From a film standpoint, comic books offer a great first template of what a film could look like. In fact, after collaboration between the comic book artist, art director, film director, editor, writers and/or production designer, you may just have an entire film laid out.

However, a lot of filmmakers (and even screenwriters) make the mistake of oversimplifying the medium of itself. We say medium because, well, it is. Comic books are not just picture books with fancy action words and drawings. They are a transmedic narrative platform featuring in-depth world-building, compelling storylines, backstory, and symbolism.

Writer Tyler Weaver of ScriptMag describes it best:

“Comics [merge] the tried and true of drama: books are about what people think, plays are about what people say, movies are about what people do. If you can make it work, you can have people doing, saying and thinking in one comics panel.”

When It Comes To Comic Book Art and Storyboarding

On the flip side, just because you are a comic book artist doesn’t necessarily mean you know how to tell a story. A story artist will collaborate with a writer and editor to breathe life into a new world and create a meaningful story. Consider some of the greatest comics of all time in Marvel – Stan Lee, (writer) Jack Kirby, (artist) and Steve Ditko (writer/artist) – there are often co-credits for a reason.

ScriptMag does an excellent job of breaking down the essence of comics in relation to storyboarding for film/television.

When it comes to combining both mediums, think of it as a collaborative process. No set medium has jurisdiction over the other as they both bring their own elements to the table. And with creating for film/television, know that both mediums will undoubtedly add to the overall richness of your content.

We at Key West Video enjoy both comic books and quality video/film. For more information on some of the services we offer, visit our website today!

Is Hulu The New Face of New Television?

Hulu might change the way we watch TV. With the rise of video streaming services like Netflix, Amazon, HBO and Shomi, it seems like the streaming world is a little crowded. But with Hulu’s newest proposed feature, we might just change the way we watch television. Again.

Aside from new original programming, Hulu has now extended its services to live television programming.

But what does this mean?

Think TV bundles. Hulu is working with both cable and network TV channels to bring its subscribers its own live television. This almost sounds like it will be operating similarly to a skinny bundle. With this, users can use multiple channels – both cable and network – from a service provider for a discounted rate.

Hulu intends on becoming the future of online TV.

Is Hulu The New Face of New Television?

It insists on describing watching television as an “experience”. In fact, the company describes the experience as a verb.

“TV-ing”, if you will.

With an emphasis on the personal experience of watching television, Hulu wants to establish itself as a hub for great content and forward-thinking.

One other advantage to this is advertisers. Ads make Hulu attractive to potential advertisers and investors. It also makes for curated commercials during shows. As a viewer, it is both a vice and a virtue; the streaming service includes commercials that benefit advertisers. This helps Hulu stay afloat as advertisements are put in place to offset the subscription cost of the service. Seems cool enough, right? The only plausible vice in this scenario is, again, the commercials. A bit bittersweet, new subscribers may not be expecting (or want to deal with) commercials like in regular programming.

Mashable goes on to mention that Hulu is already has a leg up on this, as it’s owned by major TV networks 21st Century Fox, Walt Disney Co., and NBCUniversal.

As the streaming company has only provided very basic broad strokes in terms of what their new services will entail, they now have the world’s ear as one of the first streaming services to really push the envelope.

We at Key West Video believe in quality programming. Whether it’s shooting commercials for ad agencies, corporate businesses or creating compelling videography for events, we specialize in bringing the best content to our clients. For more information on our services, visit our website today!
